Goat's milk is a great source of calcium, like cow's milk. A serving of the goat variety contains 32.6% of the daily value (DV) for calcium, compared with 29.7% from cow's milk. Goat's milk also provides 27% of the DV for phosphorus, compared with 23.2% from cow's milk. Milk from goats also provides a bit more protein than the cow variety: 8.7 grams per serving compared to 8.1 grams.

The same benefits you get from calcium-rich dairy products apply also to goat's milk. This includes the protection offered to women against breast cancer, reducing their risk by 45%. Milk from goats seems to be better tolerated than cow's milk by many people, although the exact reason is not known. The main problem with this switch, however, is it deprives the infant of necessary nutrients found in formula. For this reason it's important to consult a pediatrician before making the switch.
